The 31st Summer Universiade (hereinafter referred to as "Universiade") was officially opened in Chengdu on July 28. This is the third time that Chinese Mainland has hosted the Summer Universiade and the first time that western China has hosted the world Multi-sport event. In cooperation with Ocean University of China, Leice has deployed a number of wind lidars around the event venues and formed a special meteorological service team, which successfully provided the opening ceremony of the Universiade with fine three-dimensional wind field observation data and analysis services around the opening ceremony venues. The excellent work of Leice and the team of Ocean University of China has been highly recognized by the sponsor and the national meteorological department, which is also the team's meteorological support task for major world events after the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympic Games.

"When lighting the main torch, it is necessary to know the size of the wind speed inside the venue. ", " We are very concerned about the wind speed and direction at the top of the canopy, and want to know if shaped fireworks can achieve the expected effect when set off. ", " Meteorological conditions such as haze and rainfall in the surrounding area of the venue will have an impact on transportation. ", " At the regular scheduling meeting for event risk management" -- the staff proposed a clear demand for meteorological information during the Universiade, and focus on extreme weather monitoring and warning issues to avoid affecting the normal operation of the opening ceremony, performance ceremony, and events.

In order to ensure the smooth progress of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Chengdu Universiade and the events at the main venue, Leice has provided multiple wind profile linear lidars and three-dimensional scanning lidars for meteorological support services, achieving three-dimensional wind field data monitoring of high, medium, and low vertical gradient fields inside and outside the venue, and providing equipment support for the analysis of microscale meteorological conditions in the surrounding area.

On the basis of radar observation, Radium Chuangxin has also developed the "Chengdu Universiade Micro Scale Wind Field Support" software platform specifically for this year's Universiade, achieving real-time data collection, transmission, and visualization of multiple LIDARs on site, facilitating users to conduct comprehensive analysis and judgment. In addition, the team has established a dedicated meteorological support service team for the Universiade to provide service support for local and national meteorological department weather consultations. During the event and at the closing ceremony, the team will continue to provide meteorological services for the event to ensure the smooth progress of various events and activities during the Universiade.
